Performing time-sensitive network experiments

Proceedings of the 4th ACM/IEEE Symposium on Architectures for Networking and Communications Systems, 2008
It is commonly believed that the Internet has deficiencies that need to be fixed. However, making changes to the current Internet infrastructure is not easy, if possible at all. Any new protocol or design to be implemented on a global scale requires extensive experimental testing in sufficiently realistic settings; simulations alone are not enough.

On time-domain network sensitivity †

International Journal of Electronics, 1973
Abstract In a recent paper, Seth has pointed out the error in the derivation of the adjoint model of Director and Rohrer and has given the correct results which are applicable for time-domain analysis. This fact calls for a re-examination of the results obtained from considerations of inter-reciprocity between the sensitivity network and the adjoint ...

Time-Sensitive Networking: An Introduction

IEEE Communications Standards Magazine, 2018
Ethernet is cheap and ubiquitous. As such, people want to use it to carry all sorts of traffic for which it was not originally intended. A popular current application area is the transport of multiple flows of data, each having different timing requirements. Such applications exist in professional audio, industrial and automotive networks, among others.

Time-Sensitive Networking for Industrial Control Networks

2020
Industrial communication networks, till date, have often relied on proprietary solutions for handling real-time control applications. These solutions are usually not interoperable with each other and are furthermore highly engineered to transport time-sensitive process control data making it rather difficult to deploy them in IT networks for enterprise

Introduction to Time-Sensitive Networking

IEEE Communications Standards Magazine, 2018
A number of companies and standards development organizations have, since 2000, been producing products and standards for "time-sensitive networks" to support real-time applications that require a) zero packet loss due to buffer congestion, b) extremely low packet loss due to equipment failure, and c) guaranteed upper bounds on end-to-end latency ...

Coordinated Data Transmission in Time-Sensitive Networking for Mixed Time-Sensitive Applications

IECON 2020 The 46th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2020
As an emerging communication tool, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is proposed by the IEEE 802.1 TSN Task Group to achieve deterministic data transmission. TSN defines protocols to ensure the determinism of traditional Ethernet by configuring gate control list (GCL).

Hierarchical Time-frequency Synchronization Mechanism for Time Sensitive Networking

2020 IEEE 18th International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN), 2020
Modern Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) requires reliable interaction and integration of data in the network. Thus, time sensitive networking (TSN) is a promising technology due to deterministic latency guarantee mechanisms for data transmission. However, the multiple mechanisms are based on the networkwide precise time synchronization.

Time-domain sensitivity of digital networks

Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processing, 1983
Convenient matrix formulas for calculating the sensitivities of multiplier coefficients of the impulse and step responses of arbitrary digital network configurations, as given by their flow graphs, are presented.
