An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

On the comparison of time series using subsampling [PDF]
In this paper we propose a procedure based on the subsampling techniques for the comparison of stationary time series that are not necessarily independent.

Time series classification [PDF]
Time series classification is a machine learning subfield with numerous real-world applications. Standard machine learning algorithms are typically not well suited to work on raw time series as the input data is, in general, temporally structured ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Feature-fused residual network for time series classification
In various fields such as healthcare and transportation, accurately classifying time series data can provide important support for decision-making. To further improve the accuracy of time series classification, we propose a Feature-fused Residual Network

Time Series Classification with Linguistic Summaries [PDF]
Soft computing techniques may provide various forms of human-consistent summaries about large time series databases, e.g., linguistic summaries, frequent patterns, fuzzy IF-THEN rules. Within this research, we focus on linguistic summaries constructed as linguistically quantified propositions, that may be exemplified by ‘Among all increasing trends ...

Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
