Symmetrical clock synchronization with time-correlated photon pairs

open access: yes, 2018
We demonstrate a point-to-point clock synchronization protocol based on bidirectionally exchanging photons produced in spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC).

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Lightweight Synchronization Algorithm with Self-Calibration for Industrial LORA Sensor Networks

open access: yes, 2018
Wireless sensor and actuator networks are gaining momentum in the era of Industrial Internet of Things IIoT. The usage of the close-loop data from sensors in the manufacturing chain is extending the common monitoring scenario of the Wireless Sensors ...

Fast antijamming timing acquisition using multilayer synchronization sequence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pseudonoise (PN) sequences are widely used as preamble sequences to establish timing synchronization in military wireless communication systems. At the receiver, searching and detection techniques, such as the full parallel search (FPS) and the serial ...

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

A timing estimation algorithm for dPMR receiver based on FPGA and its implementation

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2019
The accuracy of symbol timing synchronization has a great impact on the demodulation performance of digital communication systems. The dPMR communication system requires the symbol synchronization of the receiver to have fast acquisition and good ...

The Utility of Phase Models in Studying Neural Synchronization

open access: yes, 2017
Synchronized neural spiking is associated with many cognitive functions and thus, merits study for its own sake. The analysis of neural synchronization naturally leads to the study of repetitive spiking and consequently to the analysis of coupled neural ...

Synchronization: Stability and duration time [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2002
We consider the problem of stability and duration of the synchronization process between self-excited oscillators, both in their regular and chaotic states. Making use of the properties of Hill equation describing the deviation between the slave and the master, we derive the stability conditions and expressions of the synchronization time.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...
