Characterisation of bending mechanics in uncured laminated materials using a modified Dynamic Mechanical Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Understanding the bending mechanics of uncured carbon fibre prepreg is vital for modelling forming processes and the formation of out-of-plane wrinkling defects. This paper presents a modification of standard Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) to characterise the viscoelastic bending mechanics of uncured carbon fibre prepreg using Timoshenko beam theory.

Simplified Calculation Method for Existing Tunnel Settlement Caused by Shield Under-passing Based on Timoshenko-PasternakModel

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective It is aimed to tackle the inefficient accuracy of traditional Euler-Bernoulli beam and Winkler foundation model in calculating settlement induced by shield under-passing existing tunnels. Method Based on the Timoshenko beam theory and Pasternak

Vibration analysis of Timoshenko microbeams made of functionally graded materials on a Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics
In this work, the free vibration analysis of Timoshenko microbeams made of the Functionally Graded Material (FGM) on the Winkler-Paternak elastic foundation based on the Modified Coupled Stress Theory (MCST) is investigated.

Model building and analysis of S-type flexible hinges

open access: yesJixie chuandong
ObjectiveThe analysis of flexure hinges in existing literature is mostly based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam model, which ignores the influence of shear deflection.

A moving element method using timoshenko’s beam theory for dynamic analysis of train-track systems

open access: yesHo Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science - Engineering and Technology, 2014
The paper presents a dynamic analysis of train-track systems supported by viscoelastic foundations by combining Timoshenko’s beam theory and moving element method (MEM).
