Experimental Investigation of the Blade Tip Timing (BTT) Uncertainties [PDF]

open access: possible, 2022
The uncertainties of blade tip displacement measurement using BTT are investigated through experiments. A novel test bench is established where the blade deformation can be measured simultaneously by laser displacement sensors and BTT, which enables the determination of the BTT measurement error.

Synchronous vibration parameters identification by tip timing measurements [PDF]

open access: yesMechanics Research Communications, 2017
Abstract The Blade Tip Timing (BTT) measurement system is a technique to measure vibration parameters of a rotating bladed disk. In particular for synchronous vibrations the BTT provides signals versus the rotation speed of the disk starting from the measurement of the time of arrival (TOA) of each blade under the tip timing probes.

Tipping time of a quantum rod

American Journal of Physics, 2005
We study the tipping time of a quantum mechanical rod that is constrained to move in a plane in a gravitational potential. The initial state of the center of mass of the rod is localized within the base of support of the rod. The tipping time is found to increase exponentially with the height H of the rod as C1t0 exp[C2(H/H0)9], where C1 and C2 are ...

Tip timing measurement chain validation with the Universal Tip Timing Calibrator UTTC, approach and experience

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2012
The presentation will outline the motivation, results and experience of the development and application of a Universal Tip Timing Calibrator (UTTC) by the Siemens Tip Timing expert group. Due to the importance of the Tip Timing blade vibration measurement technology for the development of new gas turbine frames it is indispensible to calibrate these ...

Tipping time of a holonomic quantum cylinder

Canadian Journal of Physics, 2011
The classical and quantum mechanical Hamiltonians for a cylinder subject to holonomic constraints are derived. The quantum mechanical Hamiltonian is simplified and cast into a dimensionless form. The tipping time of a quantum mechanical cylinder subject to gravity is calculated. Numerical solutions for an appropriate initial wave function are obtained.

Long tipping times of a quantum rod

Canadian Journal of Physics, 2006
We calculate the tipping time of a quantum rod that has a height several times that of the edge length of its square base. We use an expression for the tipping time that has heuristic value, and gives the average time at which, upon measurement, the initially balanced rod is found to tip. We use two methods to calculate the tipping time. One method is

Optimizing probes positioning in Blade Tip Timing systems

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2022
Abstract The monitoring of the blades in bladed disk assembly is done via a continuous determination and analysis of the blade dynamics, which is mostly subjected to different type of excitation forces inducing the synchronous and asynchronous vibration of the blades.

Robust sparse representation model for blade tip timing

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2021
Abstract Blade tip timing (BTT) is one of the most important non-contact monitoring methods for blade vibration estimation. BTT predominantly consists of two steps: 1) acquiring the original pulse signal generated by the rotating blade through optical probes.

Blade Tip Timing: from Raw Data to Parameters Identification

2019 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2019
Blade Tip Timing (BTT) methods have been increasingly implemented for blade health monitoring. However, most of them are based on the prior knowledge that the resonance’s location is known. Since real BTT test usually takes more than ten hours, it’s unrealistic to Figure out every resonance from the measured raw data manually.

An Autocorrelation Method for Asynchronous Vibration Feature Extraction in Blade Tip Timing

2021 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2021
Engine compressor blades play important roles in aeroengine operation. They are easily injured by foreign objects due to direct contact with the outside air. Blade tip timing (BTT) is a non-contacting vibration measurement method for rotating blade health monitoring. However, the under sampled problem is an inevitable obstacle in the feature extraction
