Can tip-apex distance and calcar reference tip-apex distance predict lag screw cut-out in elderly patients with trochanteric femoral fractures treated with gamma3 nails [PDF]
Background: The most common complication of cephalomedullary nail fixation for femoral fractures is lag screw cut-out. The significance of the tip-apex distance (TAD) in predicting lag screw cut-out is still debated.

This study explores the discrepancies between bulk mechanics and spatial mapping in a tissue‐mimetic hydrogel model. Microplastic particles create localized stiff mechanical microenvironments that are detectable by cellular‐scale nanoindentation but leave bulk properties unchanged as measured by rheology.

A Review of Tip Apex Distance (TAD) in Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) Fixation of Femoral Fractures
Femoral neck fractures commonly occur in elderly osteoporotic females, and include extra-capsular fractures (intertrochanteric and pertrochanteric), and usually treated with the Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS).

Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Nitride MXenes remain constrained by a persistent gap between computational prediction and experimental realization. This Review identifies the thermodynamic, kinetic, and chemical barriers limiting their synthesis, critically evaluates emerging fabrication routes, and proposes a multidimensional computational‐experimental framework to accelerate the ...

Sub‐Nanometer Curvature Unlocks Quantum Orbital Flexoelectricity in Graphene
In self‐assembled, reproducible, large‐area, quasi‐pristine graphene nanowrinkles, extreme curvature forces out‐of‐plane π‐electrons toward hybridization, driving a transition from classical to quantum orbital flexoelectricity. As curvature approaches the fundamental physical limit set by the C─C bond length, the resulting polarization increases by ...
