Lift augmentation via spanwise tip blowing - A numerical study
24th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1986Numerical simulations of a low aspect ratio wing with and without a spanwise directed jet issuing from the wing tip have been performed. The results show that the tip vortex is displaced outward and upward by the blowing. This gives rise to a local lift augmentation mechanism, vortex lift caused by the vortex core being above the wing, and a global ...

Volume 7A: Structures and Dynamics, 2019
Abstract In axial compressor design for aero engines high system efficiency and operational stability are two main objectives. Both depend on clearance-induced losses. Previous investigations at the Institute have resulted in a passive clearance controlled compressor design using additively manufactured auxetic casing structures.

Fundamental and applied problems of ferrous metallurgy, 2020
At the previous stage of research using a physical model of an oxygen converter, the results of studying the features of purging a single-phase liquid through a single composite nozzle were obtained. The aim of this work was to study the behavior of a two-phase bath using a multi-nozzle lance with folded nozzles.

Turbine Blade Tip Film-Cooling and Heat Transfer Measurements at High Blowing Ratios
Volume 5B: Heat Transfer, 2014Film-cooling and heat transfer characteristics of a gas turbine blade tip with a suction side rail was investigated in a stationary 3-blade rectilinear cascade. Mounted at the end of a blow-down facility the cascade operated at inlet and exit Mach numbers of 0.29 and 0.75, respectively.

Exploratory investigation of a spanwise blowing concept for tip-stall control on cranked-arrow wings
10th Applied Aerodynamics Conference, 1992A novel blowing concept aimed at controlling the tip-panel stall of 'cranked-arrow' type wings was experimentally investigated. A spanwise-directed jet sheet tangential to the upper surface, blown from a chordwise slot located at the crank, interacts obliquely with the external flow to generate a powerful and highly controllable vortex, substantially ...
