Enabling Low‐Stack‐Pressure Silicon‐Based All‐Solid‐State Batteries: Mechanisms, Materials and Manufacturing

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, EarlyView.
This review systematically summarizes recent advances in silicon‐based all‐solid‐state batteries under stack‐pressure regulation, with emphasis on materials design, interfacial regulation, structural optimization, and cell assembly. Emerging strategies for mitigating silicon volume expansion while maintaining continuous ion/electron transport at low ...

Study of potential aerodynamic benefits from spanwise blowing at wingtip

open access: yes, 1995
Comprehensive experimental and analytical studies have been conducted to assess the potential aerodynamic benefits from spanwise blowing at the tip of a moderate-aspect-ratio swept wing.

Passive flow control technique for enhancing power efficiency of vertical-axis wind turbines: Leading-edge slot structure

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science
Vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWTs) are receiving growing interest in offshore wind energy exploitation. However, they often exhibit suboptimal energy conversion efficiency, particularly at low tip speed ratios (TSRs).

Sustainable Polymer Biocomposites for Food Packaging: Green Nanotechnology, Circular Plastic Upcycling and Smart Functional Materials

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract showing the development of biodegradable polymer biocomposites reinforced with natural fibres, green nanoparticles and waste‐plastic upcycling pathways toward sustainable smart food packaging materials ABSTRACT The fundamental hypothesis behind this review is that the combination of biodegradable polymer‐based biocomposites, which ...

Wing tip vortex control using synthetic jets

open access: yes, 2005
An experimental investigation was conducted to study the effect of synthetic jet (oscillatory, zero net mass flow jet) blowing near the wing tip, as a means of diffusing the trailing vortex.

Restoring Lateral Connectivity to Anthropogenic Riverscapes: Six Lessons From Stage Zero

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Centuries of river modification, particularly straightening and incision, have severely reduced lateral connectivity between rivers and their floodplains. As a result, Stage 0 riverscapes, characterised by high lateral connectivity (e.g., anastomosing or wetland riverscapes), are now rare in anthropogenic landscapes.

Insights From the Alphasat Aldo Paraboni Experiment at Tito Scalo and Spino d'Adda: Characterizing Scintillation and Rain Attenuation at Ka‐ and Q‐Band Frequencies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present experimental results on the relationship between rain attenuation and simultaneous scintillation during rain events, based on beacon signal measurements at 19.7 (Ka‐band) and 39.4 GHz (Q‐band) from the geosynchronous Alphasat satellite (25° E), received at two Italian ground stations, Spino d'Adda (42.1° slant path) and Tito Scalo ...

Bath Vibration During Open Eye Formation in a Physical Model of a Steelmaking Ladle

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Using a physical model, this study shows that vibration measurements reliably predict open eye size in steelmaking ladles, offering a practical alternative to visual monitoring. Vessel vibrations stabilize faster than the open eye, except at high frequencies near the bottom.

Effective Equilibrium Reaction Zone Modeling of Hydrogen Plasma Smelting Reduction: A Scenario Analysis

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The study presents a dynamic zonal model for hydrogen plasma smelting reduction (HPSR) in direct current arc furnaces, predicting time‐dependent behavior of metal, slag, and off‐gas. The study considers various industrial scenarios to quantify energy demand, hydrogen utilization, degree of reduction, and other operational sensitivities.

Anchorage performance of different punching shear reinforcement elements in cracked concrete

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Extensive research has been conducted on the bond and anchorage behavior of reinforcement elements in concrete. While many experimental studies have focused on uncracked concrete, the anchorage performance in the presence of cracks remains insufficiently understood.
