Numerical Research on the Impact of Axial Position of Endwall Suction Slot on Tip Leakage Flow

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2020
In order to reduce the adverse effect of the tip leakage flow of cantilever stator on compressor performance, the impact of the axial position of endwall streamwise suction slot on tip leakage flow was numerically studied.

Contribution to Tip Leakage Loss Modeling in Radial Turbines Based on 3D Flow Analysis and 1D Characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
[EN] The characterization of tip leakage flow plays an important role for one-dimesional loss modeling and design in radial turbine research. Tip leakage losses can be expressed as function of fluid momentum and mass flow passing through the tip gap ...

Localized Temperature Monitoring in Mouse Brain during Light Delivery via a Non‐Planar Tapered Fiber‐Integrated µRTD Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...

Ultra‐Confinement of Polaritons in Single Atomic Layer Ag Photonic Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Strong confinement of surface phonon polaritons of silicon carbide was achieved in photonic quantum dots fabricated from van der Waals heterostructure of epitaxial graphene over single‐atomic layer silver. Scattering‐type scanning near‐field optical microscopy combined with an analytical approach, developed to reveal local propagation constants with ...

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

EFFECTS OF VARYING TIP CLEARANCE AND AXIAL GAP ON AXIAL-FLOW TURBINE STAGE PERFORMANCE ( PRESENT STATE OF THE ART) [PDF]

open access: yesThe Egyptian International Journal of Engineering Sciences and Technology, 2015
The leakage flow near the tip of rotor and stator blade rows of an axial-flow turbinestage imposes significant thermal loads on such blades. It is also responsible for theaerodynamic losses therein.

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.
