Numerical simulation of tip clearance impact on a pumpjet propulsor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2016
Numerical simulation based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method had been carried out with the commercial code ANSYS CFX. The structured grid and SST k–ω turbulence model had been adopted.

Tip-leakage flow loss reduction in a two-stage turbine using axisymmetric-casing contouring

open access: yesChinese Journal of Aeronautics, 2014
AbstractIn order to reduce the losses caused by tip-leakage flow, axisymmetric contouring is applied to the casing of a two-stage unshrouded high pressure turbine (HPT) of aero-engine in this paper. This investigation focuses on the effects of contoured axisymmetric-casing on the blade tip-leakage flow.

Precise Control of Drug Release in Machine Learning‐Designed Antibody‐Eluting Implants for Postoperative Scarring Inhibition in Glaucoma

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a micro‐sized, biocompatible implant for postoperative sustained delivery of anti‐fibrotic antibodies in glaucoma surgery. Machine learning‐guided optimization of polymer composition, implant geometry, and porosity enabled precise control of drug release.

Control of Tip Leakage Flow in Axial Flow Compressor Cascade by Suction on the Blade Tip

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2018
One of the important ways of improving axial compressor performance is to control the tip leakage flow near the endwall region. Numerical computations were conducted to investigate the impact of blade tip suction on the axial compressor cascade ...

Numerical Analysis on the Influence of the Twisted Blade on the Aerodynamic Performance of Turbine

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2016
With the gradual increase of the thermal power unit capacity, the inlet steam parameters and flow of the turbine also increase gradually, which causes considerable secondary flow loss.

Desensitization of Tip Clearance Effects in Axial Flow Turbines

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2010
The present study aims to control the leakage flow and total pressure loss in high pressure turbines. A new tip shape is proposed. It is based on the triple squealer shape by adopting a new middle squealer, along the camber line, whose first and last ...

Development of a Synthetic 3D Platform for Compartmentalized Kidney In Vitro Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fully synthetic, compartmentalized 3D kidney disease model is introduced. The kidney model combines a PEG‐based hydrogel matrix with anisotropic, enzymatically degradable rod‐shaped microgels to spatially arrange a triple co‐culture of key renal epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblast cells.

Performance of Partial and Cavity Type Squealer Tip of a HP Turbine Blade in a Linear Cascade

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2018
Three-dimensional highly complex flow structure in tip gap between blade tip and casing leads to inefficient turbine performance due to aerothermal loss.

Patient‐Derived 3D Bioprinted Cardiac Organoid Constructs Reveal Key Pathological Features of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived cardiac organoids reveal key features of Duchenne muscular dystrophy cardiomyopathy, including apoptosis, oxidative stress, calcium handling defects, and mechanical remodeling. By integrating organoids into alginate–gelatin bioprinted constructs, disease phenotypes are organized into scalable 3D cardiac tissues displaying extracellular ...

TIP LEAKAGE FLOWS IN TURBINES

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2006
Mechanisms of formation of the tip leakage over shrouded and unshrouded rotor blades are described in the paper. The loss diagrams for these two types of leakage in a wide range of cascade inlet and outlet flow angles are also plotted. They are obtained
