The Internal Structure of the Tip Leakage Vortex Within the Rotor of an Axial Waterjet Pump

open access: yes, 2011
The complex flow field in the tip region of a turbomachine rotor, including the tip leakage flow and tip leakage vortex (TLV), has been studied for decades. Yet many associated phenomena are still not understood.

Influence of blade tip rounding on tip leakage vortex cavitation of axial flow pump

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2013
Tip leakage flow in axial flow pumps is mainly caused by the tip clearance, which is the main cause of tip leakage vortex cavitation and blade tip cavitation erosion. In order to improve tip clearance flow and reduce TLV cavitation, four schemes were adopted to the round blade tip.

Nanoelectronic Detection of Opioids: Machine Learning‐Powered Screening With Carbon Nanotube Field‐Effect Transistor Sensor Array

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A carbon nanotube field‐effect transistor (NTFET) sensor array is constructed to screen different opioids with machine learning models. Codeine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, and morphine are tested using the NTFET sensor array and classified with both conventional supervised learning models and deep learning models.

Bath Vibration During Open Eye Formation in a Physical Model of a Steelmaking Ladle

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Using a physical model, this study shows that vibration measurements reliably predict open eye size in steelmaking ladles, offering a practical alternative to visual monitoring. Vessel vibrations stabilize faster than the open eye, except at high frequencies near the bottom.
