Suppressing tip-leakage vortex cavitation by overhanging grooves
In the present paper, a new control method for tip-leakage vortex (TLV) cavitation is proposed. This method, which combines the effects of grooves and winglets, is made of overhanging grooves (OHGs) fitted at the tip of a hydrofoil.

Research on the suppression mechanism of a tip leakage vortex over a hydrofoil with double-control-hole structure [PDF]
Tip leakage vortex (TLV) usually exists at a small tip clearance in axial-flow energy conversion machines, which may induce flow loss, vibration, noise and vortex cavitation.

Scale effects of the tip-leakage flow with and without cavitation: A numerical study in OpenFOAM
Large eddy simulations of the tip-leakage vortex (TLV) flow around the NACA0009 hydrofoil are performed in OpenFOAM to study the scale effects of the tip-leakage vortex profile with and without cavitation.
