An Assisting Contact Electrification Strategy for Achieving Self‐Recoverable Mechanoluminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Self‐recoverable mechanoluminescence (ML) is a unique property of materials that can stably emit light under repeated stress, enabling new applications in smart sensing, displays, and wearable devices. However, self‐recoverable ML is very rare and only observed in a few active phosphors excited by piezoelectricity or contact electrification ...

A Bio‐Functional Mimetic Robot for Versatile Tasks From Cross‐Scale Manipulation to Limb‐Tool Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A functionally biomimetic design methodology is presented, enabling a single robot to perform eight distinct functions and manipulate objects across a size range exceeding 2300‐fold. The robot exceeds basic human hand functions and demonstrates remote operation, multi‐object manipulation, humanoid‐robot hand interaction, and narrow‐space inspection ...

A Sustainable Bio‐Based Epoxy Thermoset as a High‐Performance Alternative to BPA‐Based Resins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rigid–flexible bio‐based epoxy network integrates soybean oil, lignin, and maleic anhydride to overcome the strength–toughness–sustainability trade‐off of conventional BPA epoxy. The thermoset delivers excellent performance as both a structural adhesive and a matrix for glass‐fabric composites, while enabling pH‐responsive degradation, environmental ...

EVALUATION OF TIRE RUBBER DISPOSAL IN CONCRETE FOR PAVEMENTS

open access: yesJournal of Urban and Environmental Engineering, 2009
The production of waste by the tire industry has been a growing problem, indicating the need for its reuse. More than thirty million tires are discharged per year in Brazil, where regulation for the environment states that for each four new tires, five ...

Spontaneous Long‐Range Order and Alignment in Phase‐Separated Dynamic Covalent Networks Using Discrete Siloxanes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Spontaneously aligned, long‐range hexagonal columnar ordering is obtained in phase‐separated dynamic covalent networks by combining discrete siloxanes and dynamic acylsemicarbazide bonds. The ordered network shows improved (thermo)mechanical properties and creep resistance compared to the disordered network.

Paraborg: Paramedic Cyborg Insects for In Situ Emergency Drug‐Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces Paraborg, a human‐supervised paramedic cyborg‐insect platform that combines controllable locomotion, onboard imaging, and an auto‐injection mechanism for in situ drug‐delivery. By demonstrating reliable navigation, target stabilization, injector launch, and multi‐insect teamwork, the study extends cyborg insects from survivor ...

Miscibility, Thermal, and Mechanical Properties of Recycled Waste Tire Rubber-Modified Polystyrene Sustainable Composites

open access: yesBioResources
Waste tires represent an important source of polymer waste. The ground tire rubber derived from waste tires is a recycled product that can be combined with polystyrene (PS) to produce high-performance PS and waste rubber composites.

Thermo-mechanical analysis of mass concrete elements made of rubberized concrete

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2019
In this study, mass concrete samples with tire rubber chips (rubberized concrete) were evaluated in order to determine if the addition of rubber particles would enhance cracking strength due to volumetric variations of thermal origin, compared to a ...
