Tissue microarrays in cancer diagnosis
Expert Review of Molecular Diagnostics, 2003New molecular techniques such as cDNA, protein or antibody arrays allow for high-throughput identification of thousands of potentially disease-related markers on the genome, transcriptome and proteome level. Major disadvantages of such studies are the enormous costs and the need for unfixed tissues, disallowing comprehensive large-scale studies ...

Bronchoscopic navigation and tissue diagnosis
General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2019Diagnosis of early-stage lung cancer has become increasingly important as the detection of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) grows with widespread adoption of CT-based lung cancer screening. Although CT-guided transthoracic needle aspiration has been the standard diagnostic approach for PPLs, transbronchial sampling by bronchoscopy is often performed

Diagnosis of Soft Tissue Sarcomas
Pathology - Research and Practice, 1984Based on a review of 752 cases coded as soft tissue sarcomas, histologic features were analyzed for a differential diagnosis, dividing the sarcomas in the first diagnostic step into purely descriptive groups, regardless of biologic behavior: spindle cell, small cell, pleomorphic and myxoid varieties.

Diagnosis of Soft-Tissue Masses
American Journal of Roentgenology, 2011AJR 2011; 197:W365 0361–803X/11/1972–W365 © American Roentgen Ray Society Diagnosis of Soft-Tissue Masses We read with great interest the article by Subhawong et al. [1], “Soft-Tissue Masses and Masslike Conditions: What Does CT Add to Diagnosis and Management?” in the June 2010 issue of the AJR.

Grading and Tissue-Specific Diagnosis
2017This chapter provides an overview of the value of imaging in grading and tissue-specific diagnosis of soft tissue tumors (STT). While tissue-specific diagnosis implies pathological typing, grading implies differentiation between benign and malignant tumors and definition of malignancy grade.

Endoscopic tissue diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma
Current Opinion in Gastroenterology, 2008The extremely poor outcome in patients with cholangiocarcinoma, in large part, reflects the late presentation of these tumors and the challenging nature of establishing a tissue diagnosis. Establishing a diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma requires obtaining evidence of malignancy from sampling of the epithelium of the biliary tract, which has proven to be

Diagnosis and Management of Soft Tissue Sarcomas
Advances in Surgery, 2008STS are a heterogeneous group of malignant tumors that pose significant management challenges. The cornerstone of therapy for patients who have primary STS remains margin-negative resection. Adjuvant radiotherapy has been shown to reduce the risk of recurrence for extremity and trunk STS, although its role for retroperitoneal STS remains to be defined.

The pathologic diagnosis of carcinoma in various tissues
2022Carcinoma is defined as cancer arising from the epithelial cells that line an organ or tissue. The most common carcinoma in males arises in the prostate and breast in females; while the most significant cause of cancer related mortality in the United States is carcinoma of the lung.

The effect of microdebriders on tissue for histological diagnosis
Clinical Otolaryngology and Allied Sciences, 1997Microdebriders are an innovation in endonasal surgery which enable accurate and precise removal of tissue without damaging the surrounding mucosa. Concern has been expressed, however, that the instrument may render excised tissue unsuitable for histological diagnosis.

Preoperative diagnosis of soft tissue tumours
International Orthopaedics, 1988Over a period of 3 years in Southern Sweden 35 patients were seen with deep-seated limb sarcomas without metastases, 30 of whom were referred before any operation had been carried out. Thirty seven patients with deep-seated benign lesions were referred during the same period because of suspected malignancy.
