Role of reactive oxygen species in mediating peripheral hypoxic vasodilation and sympathoexcitation at high altitude

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend High‐altitude acclimatisation increases muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA) via activation of the arterial chemoreflex, pulmonary arterial baroreceptors and resetting of the sympathetic vascular baroreflex. However attempting to silence these mechanisms only partially normalises MSNA, implicating other contributory ...

The Clinical Significance of Fetal Intra‐Abdominal Umbilical Vein Varix

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 1, Page 181-192, January 2026.
Objectives To clarify the clinical significance and optimal management of fetal intra‐abdominal umbilical vein varix (FIUVV). Methods A retrospective study comparing composite asphyxia‐related adverse outcomes including stillbirth, cesarean delivery due to non‐reassuring fetal heart rate (CD NRFHR), Apgar <7, Cord pH <7, neonatal intensive care unit ...

Evaluation of noninvasive cardiac output methods during exercise [PDF]

open access: yes
Noninvasive techniques to estimate cardiac output (Qc) will be used during future space flight. This retrospective literature survey compared the Qc techniques of carbon dioxide rebreathing (CO2-R), CO2 single breath (CO2-S), Doppler (DOP), impedance (IM)

Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Systemic Sclerosis: Current Evidence and Future Directions

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 7, Issue 12, December 2025.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune connective tissue disease marked by progressive fibrosis and multi‐organ involvement, most notably in the lungs. Among patients with rapidly progressive diffuse cutaneous SSc and interstitial lung disease (ILD), autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) has emerged as one of the most ...

PM2.5 Induce Endothelial‐Mesenchymal Transition and Cardiac Fibrosis via the NCOA4‐Mediated Ferritinophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 45, December 4, 2025.
This study primarily reveals that PM2.5‐derived Fe‐containing particles, particularly magnetite, are specifically enriched in the heart. Here, they interact with NCOA4 in endothelial cells, disrupt iron homeostasis by enhancing ferritinophagy, and subsequently trigger the process of EndMT through the NCOA4/KLF5 pathway.
