Group 2 Innate Lymphoid Cells Are Redundant in Experimental Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury. [PDF]
Acute kidney injury (AKI) can be fatal and is a well-defined risk factor for the development of chronic kidney disease. Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) are innate producers of type-2 cytokines and are critical regulators of homeostasis in ...

Comparison of Varying Tissue Freezing Methods on Murine Colonic Tissue [PDF]
Histology often requires a tissue specimen to be embedded so that it may be sectioned, stained, and mounted on a microscope slide for viewing. One common method of tissue embedding for rapid histology is freezing, since freezing allows tissue to be ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Monoclonal antibodies against human astrocytomas and their reactivity pattern [PDF]
The establishment of hybridomas after fusion of X63-Ag8.653 mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from mice hyperimmunized against human astrocytomas is presented. The animals were primed with 5 × 106 chemically modified uncultured or cultured glioma cells.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Human disease states are biomolecularly multifaceted and can span across phenotypic states, therefore it is important to understand diseases on all levels, across cell types, and within and across microanatomical tissue compartments.

OCT-Embedded Tissue Preparation v1
This protocol describes embedding of tissue samples in optimal cutting temperature (OCT) compound (Lin & Lin, 2020). Tissue embedded in OCT can then undergo frozen sectioning on a microtome-cryostat. The advantage of OCT embedding is it requires minimal tissue processing and tissue does not need to undergo fixation prior to snap freezing.
