Temperature Measurements in Tissue-Mimicking Material during HIFU Exposure

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
Cavitation in high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) procedures can yield unpredictable results, particularly when the same location is targeted for more than several seconds. To study this effect, temperature rise was measured in tissue mimicking material (TMM) during HIFU exposures.

Temperature Rise in Tissue Mimicking Material During HIFU Procedures

ASME 2007 Summer Bioengineering Conference, 2007
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) has shown considerable promise as a minimally-invasive technique for various therapeutic applications such as tumor ablation and vessel cauterization. The efficacies of these HIFU procedures depend on various operational parameters such as total acoustic power, pulse duration and transducer dimensions.

Tissue mimicking material and image artifacts in intravascular elastography

1996 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings, 2002
Intravascular ultrasound is being investigated as a tool for imaging the local elasticity of atherosclerotic vessels: obtaining images of the compression modulus is the ultimate goal. In practice, radial strain is used to depict local hardness: this simplification causes artifacts that must be understood or corrected.
