Stereotactic radiosurgery for multiple small brain metastases using gamma knife versus single‐isocenter VMAT: Normal brain dose based on lesion number and size

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The study evaluates rapid linear accelerator (Linac) single isocenter stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) with Hyperarc for large target numbers. We compared to Gamma Knife (GK), which suffers from long treatment times and investigated causes of differences. Methods Linac SRS and GK treatment plans for patients receiving 18 Gy to the gross

Quantification and dosimetric impact of intra‐fractional bladder changes during CBCT‐guided online adaptive radiotherapy for pelvic cancer treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study quantitatively evaluates bladder changes and their dosimetric impact during the on‐couch adaptive process on a commercial CBCT‐based online adaptive radiotherapy (CT‐gART) platform. Methods Data from 183 fractions of ten patients receiving online ART for pelvic cancers were analyzed retrospectively.

Redefining spectral unmixing for in-vivo brain tissue analysis from hyperspectral imaging [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, we propose a methodology for extracting molecular tumor biomarkers from hyperspectral imaging (HSI), an emerging technology for intraoperative tissue assessment. To achieve this, we employ spectral unmixing, allowing to decompose the spectral signals recorded by the HSI camera into their constituent molecular components.

Implementation of needle‐tracking technology for real‐time transrectal ultrasound‐guided interstitial gynecological HDR brachytherapy: A feasibility study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To investigate the feasibility of adapting a commercial prostate biopsy system for transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)‐guided hybrid gynecological (GYN) high‐dose‐rate (HDR) brachytherapy (BT). Leveraging 3D‐TRUS and MR image fusion, the prototype system aims to improve real‐time needle placement accuracy.

Biomechanical Constraints Assimilation in Deep-Learning Image Registration: Application to sliding and locally rigid deformations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Regularization strategies in medical image registration often take a one-size-fits-all approach by imposing uniform constraints across the entire image domain. Yet biological structures are anything but regular. Lacking structural awareness, these strategies may fail to consider a panoply of spatially inhomogeneous deformation properties, which would ...
