Effects of LP-MOCVD prepared TiO2 thin films on the in vitro behavior of gingival fibroblasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We report on the in vitro response of human gingival fibroblasts (HGF-1 cell line) to various thin films of titanium dioxide (TiO2) deposited on titanium (Ti) substrates by low pressure metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (LP-MOCVD).

Iridium Oxide Inverse Opal Anodes with Tailored Porosity for Efficient PEM Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of Iridium‐based Inverse Opals (Ir‐IO) is reported as electrocatalyst for Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEM‐WE). Using the developed protocol it produces highly porous materials consisting either of metallic, oxidic Iridium or a combination thereof with large surface areas.

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Forming of Titanium and Titanium Alloys

open access: yes, 2006
Abstract This article describes different types of titanium alloys, including alloy Ti-6Al-4V, alpha and near-alpha alloys, and alpha-beta alloys. It explains the formability of titanium alloys with an emphasis on the Bauschinger effect. The article provides information on the tool materials and lubricants used in the forming process. It

General review of titanium toxicity

open access: yesInternational Journal of Implant Dentistry, 2019
Titanium is a commonly used inert bio-implant material within the medical and dental fields. Although the use of titanium is thought to be safe with a high success rate, in some cases, there are rare reports of problems caused by titanium.

Coupling Interfacial Redox‐Reactions with In Situ Proton Generation for the Photoelectrochemical Separation of Rare‐Earth Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance the sustainability of electrochemical separations for resource recovery, a photoelectrochemical ion recovery system is developed that utilizes renewable solar energy. A composite integrating titianium dioxide nanorods and a redox‐copolymer enables spontaneous cation adsorption and light‐activated redox reactions for regeneration, thus ...
