Boride formation behaviour and their effect on tensile ductility in cast TiAl-based alloys

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Boron has been used to refine the microstructures in TiAl castings, such as low-pressure turbine (LPT) blades, to improve mechanical properties. However, boride precipitates with undesirable morphologies could reduce ductility and even entirely remove ...

Consolidation Efficiency of Noncompact Alloys by Diamond Burnishing

open access: yesНаука и техника, 2019
Active use of parts synthesized while using additive technologies from powders is limited due to presence of residual porosity contributing to a decrease in strength, ductility, fracture toughness, crack resistance, workability by cutting, as well as ...

Development of CALPHAD database for both Ti- and TiAl-based alloys [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
Phase diagram calculations and phase transformation simulations have been widely employed to materials design and process optimization. Recent development of a 27-element thermodynamic database (TCTI2) together with a compatible mobility database (MOBTI3)

Improving Forging Outcomes of Cast Titanium Aluminide Alloy via Cyclic Induction Heat Treatment

open access: yesMetals, 2023
The objective of this research was to improve the forging outcome of peritectic solidifying cast titanium aluminide (TiAl) 4822 alloy (Ti-48Al-2Nb-2Cr at.%) in hot isostatic pressed and homogenised (HH) condition using cyclic induction heat treatment ...

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Oxidation behavior of fully dense TiAl-based composites with a controlled laminated microstructure

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2021
A novel laminated TiAl matrix composite (LMC) consisting of alternating equiaxed grain layers (EGLs) and fully lamellar grain layers (FGLs) has been fabricated successfully by hot pressing of alternating Ti/Al–6Si foils and subsequent multi-step reaction

Deoxidation of Titanium Aluminides.

open access: yesDENKI-SEIKO[ELECTRIC FURNACE STEEL], 1993
The deoxidation of TiAl is one of the key technologies to recycle the scrap contaminated through the casting processes. Fairy high amount of aluminum, more than 30%, enables the few deoxidation methods such as evaporation of aluminum oxide or Ca addition, while they are inapplicable to conventional Ti-alloys containing lower aluminum. The TiAl with 0.21%

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 3, 4 February 2026.
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.
