ABSTRACT Lake sediments are natural archives of past environmental dynamics and how these systems have responded to past climate variability. Sediment geochemistry, governed by local geology and climate processes, is unique to each lake‐catchment and geochemical proxies must be validated for each study site.

Numerical Simulation of Interfacial Fracture Behavior of Heat-Insulating and Abradable Seal Coatings [PDF]
In order to explore the failure behavior of heat-insulating and abradable seal coating, the effects of interface roughness and the abradable structure of the surface layer near the interface on the cracking of the composite coating were investigated. The ...

The Material Basis of 18th‐Century Meissen Porcelain
ABSTRACT In the summer of 1708, the quest for making hard‐paste porcelain from Saxonian clay and other mineral resources succeeded. This was achieved by applying as its essential ingredient newly discovered pure kaolin from Heidelsberg near Aue, western Saxon Ore Mountains.

Background and Purpose Adenosine is a potent regulator of neurotransmission and neuronal excitability, through activation of Gi coupled adenosine A1 receptors (A1Rs). Adenosine has gained interest as an anticonvulsant because of its endogenous involvement in ending seizure activity, but peripheral side effects require local application.

Porcelain bonding to titanium with two veneering principles and two firing temperatures.
Dental literature, as well as dental laboratories, has described problems with ceramic veneering of titanium, while clinical and in vitro studies have reported good results. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of firing temperature, thermo cycling, and veneering methods on bond strength between porcelain and titanium.
