The kinetics of chlorination of titanium nitride (TiN) was investigated in the temperature range of 523 K to 673 K (250 °C to 400 °C). The results showed that the extent of chlorination slightly increased with increasing temperature and decreasing particle size of titanium nitride at constant flow rate of N2-Cl2 gas mixture.

Titanium imido complexes as precursors to titanium nitride
Journal of the Chemical Society, Dalton Transactions, 2002Treatment of TiCl4 with 2–4 fold excess of ButN(H)SiMe3 in CH2Cl2 resulted in the formation of orange crystals of [TiCl2(NBut)(NH2But)]4, the X-ray crystal structure of which has been determined. In the presence of excess pyridine, the reaction of TiCl4 with 1 equivalent of ButN(H)SiMe3 resulted in the isolation of the monomeric complex [TiCl2(NBut)(py)

Ion beam nitriding of titanium and titanium alloy
Vacuum, 1983Abstract Titanium and Ti8A/1Mo1V alloy have been nitrided with an ion beam source of nitrogen or agon and nitrogen, at a total pressure of 2−10×10 −4 torr. The treated surface has been characterized by surface profilometry, X-ray diffractometry, Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), and microhardness measurements.
