Four Station Knee Simulator Wear Testing Comparing Titanium Niobium Nitride with Cobalt Chrome [PDF]
A new non-destructive method was applied in order to assess bone integrity. The method is based on measurement of bHypersensitivity to an orthopaedic implant was first published in 1966 and since then, in sensitive patients, is known to cause serious ...

Microstructural Characterization of Shrouded Plasma-Sprayed Titanium Coatings [PDF]
Titanium and its alloys are often used for corrosion protection because they are able to offer high chemical resistance against various corrosive media. In this paper, shrouded plasma spray technology was applied to produce titanium coatings.

Laser surface nitriding of titanium and a titanium alloy
Surfaces of titanium and titanium alloy IMI829 have been nitrided by laser melting in nitrogen and in a gas mixture containing various proportions of argon and nitrogen. The nitrided layers have been characterised with respect to their hardness, microstructure, chemical composition, corrosion properties and surface finish.

Cytological response of palatal epithelium to TiN-coated CoCr alloy denture
The aim of this study was to assess the impact of titanium nitride coatings on CoCr alloy metal parts in framework dentures on human palatal epithelium cytology compared to framework dentures made with the same alloy but without titanium nitride coating,

Nitriding phenomena in titanium and the 6Al-4V titanium alloy
Nitriding unalloyed titanium in purified nitrogen at 1,800° F produced a uniformly thick case that consisted of five distinct zones. The same treatment applied to a 6Al-4V titanium alloy resulted in a thinner nitride case that consisted of three zones and elongated nitride grains that penetrated into the core at approximately 45 degrees to the specimen

Preparation of Metal Nitride Particles Using Arc Discharge in Liquid Nitrogen
A simple process to synthesize metal nitride particles was proposed using submerged arc discharge plasma in liquid nitrogen. Gibbs standard free energy was considered for the selection of the nitride-forming materials.
