Integrative transcriptomic and machine learning approaches reveal candidate genes for silk and venom production in Bibionomorpha (Diptera)

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Multi‐species transcriptomics and deep learning identified candidate genes associated with silk and venom production in Bibionomorpha. Venom‐associated genes were enriched in proteases, inhibitors and pore‐forming proteins, whereas silk‐related genes showed chitin‐binding and peritrophin domains. Integrating co‐expression networks, machine learning and

Demand Shocks, Export Diversification, and Firm Performance During the Great Trade Collapse

open access: yesJournal of Economics &Management Strategy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the impact of external demand shocks from the 2008 to 2009 Great Trade Collapse on the performance of Chinese exporters and examines how export diversification mitigates these effects. Using Chinese Customs data merged with financial data from all listed Chinese firms, we construct firm‐specific demand shocks based on pre ...

Complementary or Substitutive Environmental Governance? ISO 14001 and Environmental Stringency for Emission Reduction

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract In this paper, we adopt the so‐called ‘related’ perspective on business and government relations and propose that they interact and influence one another in governing corporate responsibility. We theorize that private and public governance may operate as complements or substitutes, and conduct a comparative institutional analysis to identify ...

The Relative Contributions of Arousal Presence and Arousal Intensity to Post‐Respiratory‐Event Ventilation in Obstructive Sleep Apnea

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
In obstructive sleep apnea, the breathing after each obstructive event is affected by cortical arousal. Across two cohorts (N = 1781 and N = 67), arousal presence raised post‐event ventilation by 17–30%Eupnea, with each intensity step adding 1–4%Eupnea, independent of chemoreflex drive.
