Numerical investigation of the electric field distribution induced in the brain by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)

open access: yes, 2004
Introduction. There has been considerable interest over the years in the treatment of serious physiological and clinical conditions, such as depression and pain relief, byutilising electromagnetic fields through Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) of ...

Prior Expectations Bias Confidence Judgments Through Parietal Alpha‐Band Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Humans possess the metacognitive ability to estimate the likely accuracy of their own decisions through confidence judgments. Yet, whether prior information shapes confidence and the neural mechanisms mediating such influence, remain to be determined.

Transcription Factor Promiscuity Drives Regulatory Rewiring and Evolvability in Gene Networks in Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
When a master transcription factor (TF) is lost, bacteria can rapidly rewire gene regulatory networks by co‐opting related regulators. Using experimental evolution in Pseudomonas fluorescens, we show that TF promiscuity (low‐level, non‐cognate binding) provides the raw material for rewiring. Successful co‐option follows a predictable hierarchy governed

Effect of metoprolol on death and cardiac events during a 2-year period after coronary artery bypass grafting. The MACB Study Group

open access: yes, 1995
PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of long-term treatment with metoprolol after coronary bypass grafting on death and cardiac events. METHODS: Patients in western Sweden on whom coronary artery bypass grafting was performed between June 1988 and June 1991 ...

Integration of Spatiotemporal Multi‐Omics in Peach Fruit Unravels a Metabolic Niche and the Genetic Basis of Trichome‐Mediated Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructed the first spatiotemporal multi‐omics map of peach fruit and discovered a key candidate gene that synergistically regulates trichome development and drought tolerance through the jasmonic acid signaling pathway, providing insights into the coupling mechanism between development and stress resistance.

3D Large‐Scale Subwavelength‐Resolution Sound Sheet Tomography Based on an Active and Programmable Circular Meta‐Array

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable 2048‐element circular ultrasound array combined with a compact acoustic lens produces a thin “sound sheet” over a large field of view, and records echoes with wide angular diversity across the ring aperture. Coherence‐enhanced beamforming converts full‐matrix data into high‐contrast tomographic slices, delivering near‐diffraction‐limited

Lipoic Acid‐Intervened Decellularized Stem Cell Spheroid‐Based Injectable Granular Gel for Diabetic Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advancements in tissue engineering have revolutionized therapeutic paradigms for diabetic tissue defects; however, the lack of applicable scaffold containing various bioactive substance aggregates remained a critical bottleneck hindering satisfactory repair effect.

Analysis of Gap Formation in the Casting of Energetic Materials

open access: yes, 2007
The problem of undesirable separation of the cast material from the mold in the casting of energetic materials is investigated. Comprehensive models are developed to simulate the heat and mass transfer processes during melt casting of energetic materials,

The Trichinella Super‐Pangenome Reveals the Evolution of Encapsulation and Predicted Host–Parasite Protein Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The muscle capsule of Trichinella is a critical structure that impedes immune attacks and drug penetration, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying its formation remain poorly understood. Using a high‐quality super‐pangenome comprising 12 Trichinella species, we compared extensive genomic variations between encapsulating and non‐encapsulating ...
