Abstract The early Toarcian (Early Jurassic, ~183 Ma) was characterized by a pronounced oceanic anoxic event (OAE), global warming, major changes in hydrological cycling and a second order mass extinction. Most studies of early Toarcian geobiology have focused on the Northern Hemisphere, and only a few studies have been carried out on strata from the

Global radiolarian zonation for the Pliensbachian, Toarcian and Aalenian
Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2010Abstract Jurassic radiolarians from 220 samples in Queen Charlotte Islands, B.C., Williston Lake, B.C., east-central Oregon, Baja California Sur, southern Spain, Austria, Slovenia, Turkey, Oman, Japan and Argentina were studied in order to construct global zonation for the Pliensbachian, Toarcian and Aalenian stages.

Lower Toarcian palynostratigraphy of Pozzale, central Italy
Palynology, 1997Abstract Palynological studies of the Lower Toarcian Pozzale section of central Italy (Tethyan Realm, Mediterranean province) have revealed significant differences between palynomorph assemblages from the Boreal and Tethyan realms and marked similarities between the two bioprovinces of the Tethyan Realm (Mediterranean and Sub‐Mediterranean).

Abstract The Early Jurassic Toarcian oceanic anoxic event (T-OAE) is characterized by an extinction event, a major sea-level rise, enhanced marine primary productivity, elevated seawater temperatures, widespread deposition of organic-rich sediments, and a negative carbon-isotope excursion (CIE).

Jurassic (Toarcian to Kimmeridgian) dinoflagellate cysts and paleoclimates
Palynology, 1999Abstract Multivariate statistics have been used to identify the paleoclimatic‐paleoecological affinities of most European Jurassic (Toarcian to Kimmeridgian) dinoflagellate cyst taxa. These analyses were then used to construct dinoflagellate cyst diagrams (abbreviated to ‘cyst diagrams'), which are analogous to pollen diagrams.

Towards an Ammonite zonation for the Toarcian of North America
Geobios, 1994Abstract Toarcian deposits in North America occur on the craton from southwestern Alberta to northern Alaska and the Canadian Arctic, and on the accreted terranes of the Cordillera from east-central Oregon to southern Alaska. The complicated tectonic history of the Cordillera and the incomplete nature of much of the ammonite fauna have precluded a ...

An incomplete skull of the lower Toarcian ichthyosaurStenopterygius cf.quadriscissus is described from the lower Toarcian of Dobbertin (Mecklenburg, northeastern Germany). It represents both the northeasternmost occurrence of this ichthyosaur genus and the first diagnostic specimen from East Germany.

New belemnites from Toarcian and Aalenian of Siberia
International Geology Review, 1966From the Jurassic (Toarcian and Aalenian) of the Lena river basin the following Belemnites are described as new: Sachsibeius mirus, Lenobelus lenensis, Lenobelus gravis, Lenobelus reconditus, Dactyloteuthis yacutiensis. Sachsibelus (type species S. mirus) and Lenobelus (type species L. lenensis) are new genera.
