Acoustic Detection of Underwater Air Bubbles Generated by Breaking Waves in an Antarctic Polynya

Abstract The Southern Ocean is a significant sink for anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere. The pelagic regions north of sea ice areas primarily absorb atmospheric CO2 via biological productivity and air‐sea gas exchange. The latter is enhanced by the bubbles generated by breaking waves.
