Adolescents’ first tobacco products: Associations with current multiple tobacco product use
Understanding which tobacco products adolescents use first can lead to insights for tobacco prevention interventions and policies. We used cross-sectional data from high school students who reported ever using a tobacco product from the 2017 North Carolina Youth Tobacco Survey (n = 1,053).

Engineered Protein‐Based Ionic Conductors for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications
Rational incorporation of charged residues into an engineered, self‐assembling protein scaffold yields solid‐state protein films with outstanding ionic conductivity. Salt‐doping further enhances conductivity, an effect amplified in the engineered variants. These properties enable the material integration into an efficient supercapacitor.

This study reveals the mechanism by which jasmonic acid (JA) regulates lycopene synthesis under light and dark conditions. In light, JA activates SlMYC2, which suppresses SlPIF1a and promotes SlPSY1 expression. In darkness, JA induces the acetyltransferase SlNATA1, which acetylates the dark‐accumulated SlPIF1a, thereby repressing SlPSY1 expression ...

This study shows that BLADE‐ON‐PETIOLE (BOP) proteins regulate floral abscission and senescence in tomato by interacting with TFAM1 to form transcriptional condensates controlling the ARABIDOPSIS THALIANA HOMEOBOX GENE 1 (ATH1)‐mediated abscission pathway.

Modulation of neural activity and gene expression by arecoline
Arecoline, a biologically active alkaloid extracted from the areca nut, serves as the primary psychoactive ingredient in betel quid, one of the most widely consumed psychoactive substances worldwide. Despite its extensive use, the central nervous system (

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the potassium channel KCNJ2 on asthma development. KCNJ2 promotes NLRP3 inflammasome activation through both Ca2+ influx and K+ efflux in airway epithelial cells, which drives allergic airway inflammation and remodeling, suggesting a promising therapeutic target for asthma.

Soybean employs its circadian clock, governed by GmCCA1, to rhythmically defend against soybean cyst nematodes. The pathogen retaliates by secreting the effector Hg4E02, which hijacks the clock to suppress defense and co‐opt the host's translation machinery for nutrient acquisition.
