The demand for tobacco in post-unification Italy [PDF]
This paper studies the demand for tobacco products in post-unification Italy. We construct a very detailed panel data set of yearly consumption in the 69 Italian provinces from 1871 to 1913 and use it to estimate the demand for tobacco products.

The chimeric RNA ERCC1‐iASPP possesses dual coding and non‐coding functions, synergistically accelerating the process of cellular malignant transformation. Abstract Genetic variation at 19q13.3 critically modulates chemical carcinogen‐induced lung carcinogenesis, particularly in mediating the activity of benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P), a major polycyclic ...

Investigation of non-smoring nicotine-containing products
Non-smoking tobacco products are considered to be an alternative to cigarette use. Non-smoking products differ in appearance, way of consumption, ingredient composition, toxicity level, manufacturing technology, physiological effect.

The StERF10‐StGSH1 module coordinates glutathione (GSH) biosynthesis under low‐phosphorus stress. The low‐phosphate‐induced AP2/ERF transcription factor StERF10 directly activates the transcription of StGSH1 and enhances GSH accumulation. Consequently, GSH scavenges reactive oxygen species and provides sulfur for sulfolipid synthesis, facilitating the ...

Phosphorylation of Optineurin by TBK1 induces the formation of filaments that condensate upon binding to linear polyubiquitin. Membrane‐anchored LC3 partitions into these condensates, suggesting that phase separation of filamentous Optineurin with ubiquitylated cargo promotes the sequestration of cargo and its subsequent alignment with LC3‐positive ...

Two Novel S‐methyltransferases Confer Dimethylsulfide Production in Actinomycetota
This study identifies two novel S‐adenosine‐methionine‐dependent methyltransferases, MddM1 and MddM2, in actinomycetes from the Mariana Trench. These enzymes can convert toxic hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and methanethiol (MeSH) into dimethylsulfide (DMS), serving as a cellular detoxification and oxidative stress response.
