Residual tobacco smoke pollution in used cars for sale: Air, dust, and surfaces
Nicotine & Tobacco Research, 2008Regular tobacco use in the enclosed environment of a car raises concerns about longer-term contamination of a car's microenvironment with residual secondhand smoke pollutants. This study (a) developed and compared methods to measure residual contamination of cars with secondhand smoke, (b) examined whether cars of smokers and nonsmokers were ...

[Indoor air pollution by polynuclear hydrocarbons from tobacco smoke].
Sozial- und Praventivmedizin, 1984An orientation study on concentration levels of PAH in a closed space was carried out with concern about ventilation and quantity of cigarettes smoked. Emission factors of PAH and their methyl derivatives in the main and side-streams of light and heavy cigarettes were determined.

Chemical-analytical data were presented illustrating that the mainstream smoke of tobacco products contains traces of volatile N-nitrosamines. The quantity of volatile nitrosamines in the sidestream smoke of cigarettes and cigars exceeds that in the mainstream smoke by at least a factor of 10.

[Prevention of air pollution by indoor tobacco smoke in France].
Bulletin de l'Academie nationale de medecine, 2006A majority of smokers and non smokers find ambient tobacco smoke unpleasant. Passive smoking can cause sudden infant death, lung cancer and coronary heart disease. At least 3000 non smokers die as a result of passive smoking each year in France. Failure to properly implement Evin's law of 1991 explains why non smokers in France are still not protected.

Efficient Purification of Multiple Pollutants of Tobacco Smoke via Photocatalytic Oxidation Purifier
Environmental Science & TechnologyTobacco smoke, a complex mixture of particulate matter (PM) and gaseous pollutants, poses serious health risks and remains a significant challenge for indoor air purification. Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) technology has emerged as an effective strategy for pollutant removal, but its application in real tobacco smoke purification and associated health

Tobacco smoking is an important pathogenetic factor for man, but it is underestimated in our country. The great spread of this factor justifies the term "tobacco epidemic". Three epidemiological surveys made in Cracow and in the country near Lańcut indicated that 37% of the people smoked tobacco: 42% in the city of Cracow and 29% in the country. In 9.7%

[The environmental risk factors for COPD--tobacco smoke, air pollution, chemicals].
Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 2004The identification of risk factors is an important step toward developing strategies for prevention and treatment of any disease. The risks of COPD are related to environmental exposures in combination with the genetic makeup of the individual. The principal environmental factor in COPD is well known--exposure to cigarette smoke--and it can be modified.

Objective In 2012, North Dakota enacted a comprehensive statewide law prohibiting smoking in enclosed public places. Disparities in tobacco control exist in rural areas. This study's objective was to determine the extent to which the passage of a comprehensive, statewide, smoke-free law in a predominantly rural state influenced tobacco smoke pollution ...
