Tocolytics in obstetric practice

Journal of obstetrics and women's diseases, 2023

Tocolytic effects of intravenous nitroglycerin

Fundamental & Clinical Pharmacology, 2004
AbstractCurrently available tocolytic agents have shown partial or transient efficacy on uterine contractions delaying delivery for 24 or 48 h without reduction in perinatal morbidity and mortality. These facts led us to study a new tocolytic compound.

Pharmacology of Tocolytic Agents

Clinics in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1984
Various drugs have been used to inhibit preterm labour. Selective beta-receptor agonists are the drugs of choice and have been extensively studied for more than ten years. Several controlled studies have demonstrated a significant prolongation of the pregnancy after treatment with beta-receptor agonists and some have demonstrated improved fetal outcome.

Prostaglandin inhibitors as tocolytic agents

Seminars in Perinatology, 2001
Indomethacin, a nonspecific prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor, gained popularity several decades ago as a potent tocolytic agent. Perinatal Death and Tocolytic Magnesium Sulfate

Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2000
To determine whether there is a significant association between perinatal mortality and exposure to total doses of tocolytic magnesium sulfate larger than 48 g.We did a case-control study in which cases were defined as neonates or fetuses who died after being exposed to tocolytic magnesium sulfate and controls were those who survived exposure.
