Natural Agents for Preventing Skin Damage Induced by Visible Light: A Systematic Review of Preclinical and Clinical Evidence

open access: yesPhotodermatology, Photoimmunology &Photomedicine, Volume 42, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background/Purpose Visible light (VL), and particularly high‐energy visible light (HEVL), reaching Earth's surface has emerged as a relevant contributor to skin damage. VL has been implicated in oxidative stress, inflammation, pigmentation disorders, and photoaging, especially in individuals with darker skin phototypes.

Noninnocent Deep Eutectic Solvents Enable Selective, Sustainable Nickel‐Catalyzed Cross‐Electrophile Couplings to Diarylmethanes

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 16, 27 August 2026.
Ni‐catalyzed cross‐electrophile coupling (XEC) of aryl iodides with benzyl chlorides proceeds efficiently in the deep eutectic solvent (DES) choline chloride/urea, replacing hazardous amide solvents. Under mild, aerobic, heterogeneous conditions, diarylmethanes form in up to 95% yield.

Valorization of fruit pits from Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus cerasifera as agro‐food byproducts: Bioactive properties and safety assessment for potential food additive applications

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 6002-6014, 15 August 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Food additives are widely used to extend the shelf life of foods and maintain their quality. In this study, the potential of Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus cerasifera fruit pits (endocarp and seed) as food additives was investigated in terms of cytotoxicity, antigenotoxicity, antioxidant activity, enzymatic anti‐browning, and urease

Rational Design of Multifunctional Tacrine Derivatives as Candidates for the Treatment of Alzheimer and Parkinson Diseases

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
We present a set of multifunctional tacrine derivatives, designed with the CADMA‐Chem protocol, aimed for Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases. Of the tacrines designed, TAC‐674 and TAC‐678 are the best candidates to act as multifunctional antioxidants and neuroprotectors for Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases, respectively.

Negotiating in a Foreign Land: Understanding the Curious Interactions Between Intracellular Mitochondria and Internalized Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 August 2026.
Therapeutic nano‐drug delivery systems interact with cellular mitochondria in a multitude of ways. While the complexity of such interactions disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain and increases reactive oxygen species production, thereby contributing to nanoparticle toxicity, they also present unique theranostic opportunities in diseases ...
