Unveiling spatial heterogeneity in urban underground space development patterns and mechanisms for differentiated planning: A points of interest‐based study of Shanghai

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigated the spatial patterns and development mechanisms of urban underground space (UUS) in Shanghai using underground points of interest data. It revealed distinct development mechanisms between the main city and suburbs, highlighting the need for differentiated UUS planning and policies to optimize underground space resources ...

Efficiency Assessment of Transit-Oriented Development by Data Envelopment Analysis: Case Study on the Den-en Toshi Line in Japan

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2018
Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) is an urban planning approach that encourages a modal shift from private to public transportation. This shift can generate additional benefits from a sustainability perspective.

Thermal Comfort-Based Spatial Planning Model in Jakarta Transit-Oriented Development (TOD)

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
Transit-oriented development (TOD) is integrated spatial planning and transportation that enhances walkability and other green mobility. The issue of thermal comfort in walkability is a major concern in the TOD of cities in tropical climates such as ...

Deterministic Fiber‐Optic Spectral Engineering Enables Three‐Color Multiplexed Two‐Photon Microscopy

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A simulation‐guided spectral‐engineering framework maps the nonlinear parameter space of a fiber laser platform to identify balanced three‐band excitation states. The resulting 960, 1080, and 1175 nm femtosecond pulses deliver nJ‐level energies for low‐cross‐talk chromatically multiplexed two‐photon microscopy.

Efficient, yet insufficient: Investigating Transit-Oriented Policies at the national level [PDF]

open access: yesSpatium
The initial design concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) has emerged as a key urban policy to address urbanization challenges worldwide, drawing on an integrated transportation and land use planning approach.

Precision X-ray Timing of RX J0806.3+1527 with CHANDRA: Evidence for Gravitational Radiation from an Ultracompact Binary

open access: yes, 2005
RX J0806.3+1527 is a candidate double degenerate binary with possibly the shortest known orbital period. The source shows an 100% X-ray intensity modulation at the putative orbital frequency of 3.11 mHz (321.5 s).

X-ray Spectroscopy of Bursts from SGR 1806-20 with RXTE [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We report on new RXTE X-ray spectral analysis of bursts from SGR 1806-20, the most prolific SGR source known. Previous studies of bursts from this source revealed a remarkable lack of spectral variability both in single bursts as well as from burst to ...

Unveiling human–wildlife interactions in the context of livestock grazing abandonment and the return of large carnivores, ungulates and vultures: A stakeholder perspective

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Pastoral practices remain a widespread economic activity across European mountain regions. However, the viability of this activity may be threatened by the recovery of large wild vertebrates associated with passive rewilding, leading to the so‐called human–wildlife conflicts.

The Effects of Aging and Time of Day on Inhibitory Control: An Event-Related Potential Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2022
Time of day (TOD) influences on executive functions have been widely reported, with greater efficiency demonstrated at optimal relative to non-optimal TOD according to one’s chronotype (i.e., synchrony effect).

Mixed‐methods systematic review exploring the associations underpinning active outdoor play with connection to nature and environmental stewardship

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Active outdoor play has been positioned in the literature as an opportunity to address concerns over climate (in)action and the rising trend of disconnection from the outdoors and nature. The objective of this systematic review was to examine associations between active outdoor play and people's connection to nature and/or environmental ...
