Time-of-flight discrimination between gamma-rays and neutrons by neural networks

open access: yes, 2012
In gamma-ray spectroscopy, a number of neutrons are emitted from the nuclei together with the gamma-rays and these neutrons influence gamma-ray spectra.

High accuracy 234U(n,f) cross section in the resonance energy region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
New results are presented of the 234U neutron-induced fission cross section, obtained with high accuracy in the resonance region by means of two methods using the 235U(n,f) as reference. The recent evaluation of the 235U(n,f) obtained with SAMMY by L. C.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Prevalence of malocclusion in patients with thalassemia major: A cross-sectional study [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Orthodontics, 2020
Introduction: Iran lies in the world’s thalassemia belt; accordingly, the beta-thalassemia gene is carried by 4% of the Iranian population. Due to the dearth of research and literature available on the prevalence of malocclusions in the Iranian ...

Comparing lesion detection efficacy and image quality across different PET system generations to optimize the iodine-124 PET protocol for recurrent thyroid cancer

open access: yesEJNMMI Physics, 2021
Background In recurrent differentiated thyroid cancer patients, detectability in 124I PET is limited for lesions with low radioiodine uptake. We assess the improvements in lesion detectability and image quality between three generations of PET scanners ...

Effect of Time-of-Flight and Regularized Reconstructions on Quantitative Measurements and Qualitative Assessments in Newly Diagnosed Prostate Cancer With 18F-Fluorocholine Dual Time Point PET/MRI. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Recent technical advances in positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MRI) technology allow much improved time-of-flight (TOF) and regularized iterative PET reconstruction regularized iterative reconstruction (RIR) algorithms.

MnI‐Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework as Efficient Electrocatalyst for CO2 Reduction in a Catholyte‐Free Zero‐Gap Electrolyzer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the successful integration of a phenanthroline‐based 2D COF with MnI catalytic sites into a catholyte‐free membrane‐electrode‐assembly cell for CO2 electroreduction. The crystalline COF actively suppresses Mn⁰–Mn⁰ dimerization, achieving a turnover frequency of 617 h⁻¹ at 2.8 V (full‐cell potential), and enabling stable operation.

Low- and high-order gravitational harmonics of rigidly rotating Jupiter

open access: yes, 2017
The Juno Orbiter has provided improved estimates of the even gravitational harmonics J2 to J8 of Jupiter. To compute higher-order moments, new methods such as the Concentric Maclaurin Spheroids (CMS) method have been developed which surpass the so far ...

Tandem Time-of-Flight (TOF/TOF) Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Mass Spectrometry Society of Japan, 2005
A dual reflectron tandem time-of-flight (TOF/TOF) mass spectrometer reported in 1993 gave rise to the invention and development of the curved-field reflectron (CFR) for focusing product ions. The CFR is used in this case as the second mass analyzer in a tandem instrument (based on the Kratos AXIMA CFR) in which the first mass analyzer is a linear TOF ...
