Statistical Tolerance Allocation for Tab-Slot Assemblies Utilizing Tolerance-Maps

Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering, 2010
A new mathematical model for representing the geometric variations of tabs/slots is extended to include probabilistic representations of 1D clearance. The 1D clearance can be determined from multidimensional variations of the medial-plane for a slot or a tab, and from variations of both medial-planes in a tab-slot assembly. The model is compatible with

Optimal statistical tolerance allocation for reciprocal exponential cost–tolerance function

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2013
Statistical tolerancing has been widely employed in industry as it is more practical compared with the worst-case tolerancing in achieving lower manufacturing cost while satisfying design specification. As reciprocal exponential function is one of the commonly employed cost–tolerance models in practice and current approach is difficult to allocate ...

Fault‐tolerant adaptive control allocation schemes for overactuated systems

International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2010
AbstractThis paper presents a fault‐tolerant adaptive control allocation scheme for overactuated systems subject to loss of effectiveness actuator faults. The main idea is to use an ‘ad hoc’ online parameters estimator, coupled with a control allocation algorithm, in order to perform online control reconfiguration whenever necessary.

An implicit enumeration approach to tolerance allocation in sequential tolerance control

IIE Transactions, 1999
The accuracy and precision of a manufactured dimension is largely dependent on the accuracy and precision of the technological processes selected for its execution. It is not unusual to have available several competing technological processes for execution of each manufacturing operation specified in a process plan, where it is generally assumed that ...

The Fault-Tolerant Facility Allocation Problem

2009
We study the problem of Fault-Tolerant Facility Allocation (FTFA) which is a relaxation of the classical Fault-Tolerant Facility Location (FTFL) problem [1]. Given a set of sites, a set of cities, and corresponding facility operating cost at each site as well as connection cost for each site-city pair, FTFA requires to allocate each site a proper ...

Allocating Capable Tolerances in Assembly Stack Design

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The paper introduces a knowledge-based statistical approach to tolerance allocation, where a systematic analysis for estimating process capability levels at the design stage is used in conjunction with statistical methods for the optimization of tolerances in assembly stacks. The analysis employs detailed knowledge
