Reduction and Acetylation of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene by a Pseudomonas aeruginosa Strain [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Aerobic and anoxic biotransformation of 2,4-dinitrotoluene (DNT) was examined by using a Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain isolated from a plant treating propellant manufacturing wastewater.

Use of parallel fluorescent confocal microscopy for detection of prostatic adenocarcinoma

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Objective To provide a histological catalogue and defined criteria for the diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma and its variants using the fluorescent confocal microscope (FCM) platform. Methods A total of 22 radical prostatectomy specimens were serially sectioned and scanned with the FCM.

The DNA/RNA autophagy protein SIDT2 as a novel neuropathological hallmark in Huntington disease

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
SIDT2‐immunoreactive inclusions are observed in the striatum, cerebral cortex, and hypothalamus in HD cases with different Vonsattel grades, and the frequency of SIDT2‐immunoreactive inclusions is associated with longer CAG repeats in the huntingtin gene.

HSP101‐encoding NEO‐TETRAPLOID RICE FERTILITY GENE 1 regulates tapetum development through interaction with SAPK2 in polyploid rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
In neo‐tetraploid rice, the NTRF1–SAPK2 heat shock protein–kinase module coordinates abscisic acid signaling with reactive oxygen species homeostasis to ensure timely tapetal programmed cell death and subsequent pollen maturation, providing a resource for the genetic improvement of polyploid rice.

SlGRF1 mediates gibberellin signaling to control cut‐budding in tomato

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Upon wounding, cytokinin increases to initiate callus formation. Gibberellin enhances this, but later blocks bud formation by suppressing SlGRF1. Wounding‐induced protein SlGRF1 triggers buds via NAM1, EPF4, and ER2. Hormonal shifts control cut‐budding phases.

Use of Gold Nanoparticles To Enhance Capillary Electrophoresis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We describe here the use of gold nanoparticles to manipulate the selectivity between solutes in capillary electrophoresis. Two different gold-based nanoparticles were added to the run buffer.

Arabidopsis inositol polyphosphate kinase activities regulate COP9 deneddylation functions in phosphate homeostasis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Plant phosphate (Pi) homeostasis relies on coordinated activities of the inositol polyphosphate kinases IPK1 and ITPK1, which balance localized InsP7 biosynthesis to control COP9 signalosome (CSN)‐dependent deneddylation of cullin 1 (CUL1). Perturbation of this equilibrium affects the stability of SPX4, a key negative regulator of phosphate starvation ...

The dental plate on bichir pectoral fins: A unique dermal skeletal element bearing individual odontodes with tooth‐like replacement

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Pectoral fins of bichirs encompass the so‐called dental plates – unique dermal skeletal elements with individual odontodes identical to the oral teeth. Abstract The dermal skeleton appeared early in vertebrate evolution in the form of mineralized skin denticles composed of tooth‐like units—odontodes.

Is the temporomandibular joint affected by rheumatoid arthritis? A comparative investigation with knee arthritis in an experimental rat model

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Animals were sensitized with mBSA emulsified in CFA/IFA and subsequently received three intra‐articular injections of mBSA into either the TMJ or the knee (once per week). Mechanical hyperalgesia was assessed using electronic von Frey testing after arthritis establishment at 24 h or 7 days following the third intra‐articular injection.
