Tomato spotted wilt virus and related tospoviruses

Archives Of Phytopathology And Plant Protection, 1994
TSWV belongs to the genus Tospovirus which was established in the family Bunyaviridae, a family of animal viruses. Besides TSWV, Impatiens necrotic spot virus (INSV) and ground nut bud necrosis virus (GBNV) were established as different Tospovirus species.

NATURAL AND INDUCED VARIABILITY OF TOMATO SPOTTED WILT VIRUS

Acta Horticulturae, 1996
The variation among natural isolates of tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) from France, Belgium, and Italy was studied. These isolates could be classified into three groups according to their symptomatology in cowpea. However, they did not show any serological variation with polyclonal antibodies (PAbs) and monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) raised against the

Purification and electron microscopy of tomato spotted-wilt virus

Virology, 1963
Abstract Tomato spotted-wilt virus is reversibly aggregated by 0.1 M potassium phosphate. It was partly purified by grinding diseased plants with 0.1 M , pH 7 potassium phosphate buffer, centrifuging the extract at low speed and resuspending the pellet in 0.01 M Na 2 SO 3 , in which the virus was dispersed.

Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus – Potato Cultivar Susceptibility and Tuber Transmission

American Journal of Potato Research, 2013
Tomato spotted wilt virus is an economically important pathogen in several potato producing areas in the world. Although natural infections of potato in Serbia have not been detected, two TSWV isolates from tobacco, with different biological features were compared based on NSm gene sequence analysis and they were used for mechanical and graft ...

Effect of tiazofurin on tomato plants infected with tomato spotted wilt virus

Antiviral Research, 1984
Tiazofurin (2-beta-D-ribofuranosylthiazole-4-carboxamide) was examined for its activity against tomato-spotted wilt virus (TSWV) in tomato plants. Solutions containing 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg/l of the drug were sprayed onto the leaves. The results showed that 100 and 200 mg/l were the most efficient concentrations to suppress TSWV infection ...

Resistance to Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus in Transgenic Tomato Varieties

1999
Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) is a thrips transmitted plant virus which infects more than 650 plant species belonging to different botanical families (Peters et al. 1990, Goldbach, Peters 1994). Tomato appears to be one of the most vulnerable to TSWV economically important plant species due to its prolonged cultivation period in the greenhouse and ...
