Tomato spotted wilt virus glycoproteins induce the formation of endoplasmic reticulum- and Golgi-derived pleomorphic membrane structures in plant cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) particles are spherical and enveloped, an uncommon feature among plant infecting viruses. Previous studies have shown that virus particle formation involves the enwrapment of ribonucleoproteins with viral glycoprotein ...

Immune receptor mimicking hormone receptors: a new guarding strategy

open access: yesStress Biology, 2023
Plant intracellular nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat (NLR) receptors play crucial roles in immune responses against pathogens. How diverse NLRs recognize different pathogen effectors remains a significant question.

The Ribonucleic Acid of Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1977
Summary TSWV nucleic acid, extracted from purified virus with phenol-SDS, was non-infectious. Following electrophoresis of the extracted nucleic acid in 2% poly-acrylamide gels containing 0.5% agarose, 3 major and 2 minor bands were observed. The amount of material contained in the different bands varied with the season.

The Structural Proteins of Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1977
Summary Seven structural proteins referred to as proteins 1 to 7 in order of increasing mol. wt. were detected following electrophoresis of disrupted purified virus preparations. Proteins 1 to 4 occurred in largest amounts, whereas protein 5, 6 and 7 occurred in small amounts. The estimated mol. wt.

The discovery of tomato spotted wilt virus

open access: yesHistorical Records of Australian Science, 2023
The discovery of tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) was an important finding in Australian science, involving a self-educated field naturalist and a small team of plant pathologists who had to work in relative academic isolation and with inadequate glasshouse facilities.
