X-ray computed tomography

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2006
X-ray computed tomography (CT), introduced into clinical practice in 1972, was the first of the modern slice-imaging modalities. To reconstruct images mathematically from measured data and to display and to archive them in digital form was a novelty then and is commonplace today.

X-Ray Computed Tomography

2020
Whilst additive manufacturing allows the production of highly complex parts, X-ray computed tomography enables the holistic characterisation and measurement of such parts, including their intricate geometries and inner features that would not be accessible otherwise.

X-ray computed tomography

Electronics and Power, 1978
X-ray computed tomography, derived from the Greek meaning 'to write a slice or section', has been commercially available from 1972, after its invention and development by G.N. Hounsfield at the central research laboratories of EMI in 1967. Since then, its impact on the medical world has been as great as the discovery of X-rays itself, and despite the ...

Industrial X-Ray Computed Tomography

2018
This book covers all aspects of industrial X-Ray computed tomography (XCT) including history, basics, different instrument architectures, hardware and software, error sources, traceability and calibration, and applications. The book is intended for users and developers of XCT instrumentation and software in both industry and academia, being also ...

X-ray tensor tomography

EPL (Europhysics Letters), 2014
Here we introduce a new concept for x-ray computed tomography that yields information about the local micro-morphology and its orientation in each voxel of the reconstructed 3D tomogram. Contrary to conventional x-ray CT, which only reconstructs a single scalar value for each point in the 3D image, our approach provides a full scattering tensor with ...

X-ray Tomography

2008
We give a survey on the mathematics of computerized tomography. We start with a short introduction to integral geometry, concentrating on inversion formulas, stability, and ranges. We then go over to inversion algorithms. We give a detailed analysis of the filtered backprojection algorithm in the light of the sampling theorem.

X-Ray Tomography

2019
Doga Gursoy contributed to this chapter. Up until now we have concentrated on two-dimensional (2D) imaging of thin specimens. However, one of the advantages microscopy with X rays offers is great penetrating power. This means that X rays can image much thicker specimens than is possible in, for example, electron microscopy (as discussed in Section 4 ...

X-ray Computed Tomography

1987
X-ray computed tomography (CT) is remarkably helpful in the diagnosis of diseases of the upper abdominal organs, particularly the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas. However, CT examination has not been established as reliable pathognomonic method due to the rapid development of technique and equipment.

X-Ray Computerized Tomography

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1987
Distinguished Author Series articles are general, descriptiverepresentations that summarize the state of the art in an area of technology bydescribing recent developments for readers who are not specialists in thetopics discussed. Written by individuals recognized as experts in the area, these articles provide key references to more definitive work and
