Tomosynthesis for breast cancer screening
Clinical Imaging, 2016Breast tomosynthesis, a three-dimensional x-ray based breast imaging technology, has been available for clinical use in the United States since 2011. In this paper we review the literature on breast cancer screening with this new technology including where gaps in knowledge remain.

Computerized tomosynthesis of dental tissues
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1983A digital method that produces an arbitrary number of tomographic slices from a finite number of dental radiographs is described. The relation between the slice thickness of the tomograms, the number of radiographs required, and the tomographic angle is determined on the basis of existing theory.

Simulation of dose reduction in tomosynthesis
Medical Physics, 2009Purpose: Methods for simulating dose reduction are valuable tools in the work of optimizing radiographic examinations. Using such methods, clinical images can be simulated to have been collected at other, lower, dose levels without the need of additional patient exposure.

Dose Reduction in Tomosynthesis of the Wrist
American Journal of Roentgenology, 2017The purpose of this study was to quantitatively and qualitatively determine the impact of radiation dose reduction on the image noise and quality of tomosynthesis studies of the wrist.Imaging of six cadaver wrists was performed with tomosynthesis in anteroposterior position at a tube voltage of 60 kV and tube current of 80 mA and subsequently at 60 or ...

Digital tomosynthesis of the pediatric elbow
Pediatric Radiology, 2019Imaging pediatric elbow trauma in the acute setting remains diagnostically challenging given difficult patient positioning, multiple ossification centers of the pediatric elbow, overlapping structures, and complex joint anatomy. Digital tomosynthesis is a technique where the X-ray source travels across a limited arc angle, obtaining a series of low ...

Advances in Digital Breast Tomosynthesis
American Journal of Roentgenology, 2017Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) has rapidly emerged as an important new imaging tool that reduces the masking effect of overlapping fibroglandular tissue, thereby improving breast cancer detection. This article will review key features of DBT including technique, clinical implementation, and benign and malignant imaging findings.

Tomosynthesis-Based Imaging of the Breast
Academic Radiology, 2011As more and more evidence about the long-term benefits of mammography screening in terms of mortality reduction is becoming publicly available, the role of mammography in the overall schema of screening for the early detection of breast cancer becomes less controversial (1,2).

The emerging role of breast tomosynthesis
Breast Cancer, 2013Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is a new modality that aids in breast cancer detection. It is a pseudo-three-dimensional digital mammography imaging system that produces a series of 1-mm-slice images with multiple very low-dose X-ray projections to reveal the inner architecture of the breast after eliminating interference from overlapping breast ...
