Imprint of the Quasi‐Biennial Oscillation on the Ionosphere and Thermosphere
Abstract The Quasi‐Biennial Oscillation (QBO) is a dominant mode of stratospheric variability and is known to modulate the variability of the ionosphere‐thermosphere (IT) system. However, the extent of its influence on the ionosphere‐thermosphere system remains uncertain due to weak signals and confounding with similar periodicities in solar flux.

Abstract Gas flaring is a common practice for burning excessive gas during oil and gas production. Flaring results in the release of various pollutants that contribute to climate change. In the Arctic, black carbon emissions released from flaring, in and near the region, contribute to local warming.

In trophoblast cells, T/S (TNFα + SM164) activated caspase‐3, which cleaved GSDME to switch apoptosis to pyroptosis, causing cell swelling, membrane rupture, and release of LDH, HMGB1, IL‐1β and IL‐18. These cytokines induced pro‐inflammatory macrophage polarization, which in turn reinforced pyroptotic signaling in trophoblasts, amplifying systemic ...

222 nm far‐UVC light and skin health: Assessment of DNA damage across different skin types
Germicidal 222 nm far‐UVC has been proposed as an effective technology for pandemic control that can be used in indoor venues even when people are present. 222 nm light is not predicted to damage skin because it is primarily absorbed by the proteins in the superficial stratum corneum of the epidermis. Here, the stratum corneum thickness was measured in

The previously unknown meta‐hydroxy‐substituted aryliodonium salts were prepared by a two‐step one‐pot synthesis from 3‐acetoxy‐1‐[(diacetoxy)iodo]arenes and arylboronic acids. This procedure works well with halogen‐, methyl‐, methoxycarbonyl‐, or methoxy‐substituted arylboronic acids as well as naphthalenylboronic acids, phenanthren‐9‐ylboronic acid ...
