Spectrum-driven acoustic metasurface for broadband noise control

open access: yesResults in Physics
To address the issue of broadband noise with tonal characteristics in indoor environments, a spectrum-driven acoustic metasurface (SAM) is proposed in this study.

Numerical Prediction of the Tonal Airborne Noise for a NACA 0012 Aerofoil at Moderate Reynolds Number Using a Transitional URANS Approach

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2017
Tonal airborne noise of aerofoils appears in a limited range of moderate Reynolds numbers and angles of attack. In these specific conditions, the aerofoil is characterised by a large region of laminar flow over the aerodynamic surface, typically ...

Electrically Coded Retinomorphic Spectrophotodetector

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐powered retinomorphic pyro‐photodetector is demonstrated that avoids machine‐learning post‐processing and covers 365–940 nm. Electrostatic balancing of built‐in potential produces an electrical wavelength code, delivering <3 nm wavelength decoding accuracy with ∼46 µs response.

A Novel Calculation Method to Quantify the Torque Dependency of the Masking Threshold of Tonal Powertrain Noise in Electric Vehicles

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Tonal powertrain noise can have a strong negative impact on passengers’ quality and comfort perception in the interior of electric vehicles. Therefore, in the vehicle development process, the assessment of the perceptibility of tonal powertrain noise is ...

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Modeling tonal and broadband interaction noise

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2010
AbstractThe fan interaction noise is modeled as an annular cascade in terms of the Euler equations linearized about a nonuniform rotational flow. The model accounts for the inflow-fan-duct coupling and the high frequency of the interaction process. An efficient split velocity formulation is developed, making it suitable for broadband calculations.

Muscle Control of an Extra Robotic Digit

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study compares muscle‐ and movement‐based control for operating a supernumerary robotic thumb. While movement control performs better in the proposed tasks, muscle‐based (EMG) control promotes broader motor learning. The results highlight the promise and challenges of using biosignals for human augmentation, offering new insights into intuitive ...

Prognostic significance of tumor microenvironment assessed by machine learning algorithm in surgically resected non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesCancer Reports, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Background A methodology to assess the immune microenvironment (IME) of non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been established, and the prognostic impact of IME factors is not yet clear. Aims This study aimed to assess the IME factors and evaluate their prognostic values. Methods and Results We assessed CD8+ tumor‐infiltrating lymphocyte (

The white noise standard sample method and application for subjective noise evaluation

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2022
The anchored scoring method is one of the widely used subjective sound evaluation methods. The comparability between subjective sound evaluation data obtained from different sample sets can be enhanced by selecting the standard sound sample as reference ...

Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.
