Perceptual Tone Mapping Model for High Dynamic Range Imaging
One of the key challenges in tone mapping is to preserve the perceptual quality of high dynamic range (HDR) images when mapping them to standard dynamic range (SDR) displays.

Low-Light Image Enhancement Using CycleGAN-Based Near-Infrared Image Generation and Fusion
Image visibility is often degraded under challenging conditions such as low light, backlighting, and inadequate contrast. To mitigate these issues, techniques like histogram equalization, high dynamic range (HDR) tone mapping and near-infrared (NIR ...

Complex-Tone Pitch Discrimination in Listeners With Sensorineural Hearing Loss
Physiological studies have shown that noise-induced sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) enhances the amplitude of envelope coding in auditory-nerve fibers.

Vasovagal cardiac arrest during spinal anesthesia for Cesarean section -A case report- [PDF]
The vasovagal response is characterized by an inappropriate combination of bradycardia and paradoxical vasodilation. During a general or neuraxial anesthesia-induced sympathectomy, a sudden vagal activation and/or an acute reduction in sympathetic tone ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

The Evaluation of Digital Rectal Examination for Assessment of Anal Tone
Introduction Cauda equina syndrome represents the constellation of symptoms and signs resulting from compression of lumbosacral nerve routes. Combined with subjective neurological findings, a reduction in anal tone is an important sign deeming further ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.
