The characteristics of the chondroma in general, as well as of the chondroma and chondrosarcoma of the tongue, are analyzed. Wide surgical excision is recommended, with a postoperative follow-up

Abstract Chondroma is uncommon in the oral region. It usually occurs in the hard palate, alveolar ridge, condyle, or coronoid process. Only a few cases of oral extraskeletal chondroma have been reported,1–8 the most common site being the tongue. We report an additional case of chondroma involving the tongue and present a brief review of the subject.

The specific focus is on the system of control of sequencing of speech units, and even more narrowly on a class of speech errors–tongue-slips– which result from transient malfunctions of this system.
