The Efficacy of Adjunctive Platelet Concentrates in Combined Guided Tissue Regeneration and Bovine Bone Grafting for Intrabony Defects: A Systematic Review

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Autologous platelet concentrates (APCs) have emerged as biologically active adjuncts in guided tissue regeneration (GTR), aiming to enhance the treatment of intrabony periodontal defects through the local release of growth factors. Despite growing interest, the clinical benefits of combining APCs with bovine‐derived bone grafts (BBG)

Development and Functional Evaluation of a Pharmabiotic Food Supplement Containing Microencapsulated Lactiplantibacillus pentosus for Oral Microbiome Health

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Development of a multifunctional pharmabiotic oral spray containing microencapsulated Lactiplantibacillus pentosus, hyaluronic acid, and Glycyrrhiza glabra extract. The formulation synergistically suppresses oral biofilms while exhibiting antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, supporting oral microbiome homeostasis.

Enabling Under Ice Glider Operations: A Backseat Driver Approach

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 5, Page 3292-3311, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Polar Oceans are key locations for forcing global ocean circulation, influencing both global climate and biogeochemical cycles. Due to restricted access to these seasonally and perennially ice‐covered regions, these areas are severely undersampled.

Redefining Success in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: Bridging the Gap Between Technical Outcomes and Patient Quality of Life

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Volume 56, Issue 4, August 2026.
Traditional success metrics in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) primarily emphasize clinician‐reported outcomes such as anatomical correction, osseointegration, skeletal stability, and disease control. However, growing evidence indicates a frequent mismatch between these objective measures and patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) and quality ...

A non-invasive and simple method of rescuing an entrapped tongue from a glass water bottle for a small state hospital: a case report

open access: yesPediatric Emergency Medicine Journal
If children try to vigorously drink fluid from a glass bottle or play with it, their tongues can be entrapped in the bottle wherein the vacuum is created. The entrapped tongue causes lingual edema, leading to the lingual necrosis and upper airway obstruction.

Dental Calculus Formation Is Linked to Diet and Phylogeny in Mammals

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
In a survey of > 1600 specimens across all mammalian orders, we found that most species present dental calculus. We found calculus production to be strongly associated with herbivory, and we provide recommendations for the use of dental calculus in collections‐based research. ABSTRACT The oral microbiome is implicated in a wide diversity of fundamental
