The Laryngoscope, EarlyView.High vagal etiology of unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP) is linked to greater swallowing dysfunction compared to low vagal etiology of UVFP, with higher rates of premature spillage, pharyngeal residue, penetration and aspiration on instrumental swallow assessment; and higher prevalence of diet and behavioral modifications recommended.
