The paper gives the current aspects of the etiology and pathogenesis of acute tonsillopharyngitis and its complications. Correct evaluation of the clinical manifestations of the disease is noted to be of importance in choosing adequate treatment policy and preventing unfavorable trends in the development of the disease.
