PSO for Selecting Cutting Tools Geometry

2008
Today an extensive variety of cutting tool is available to suit different cutting situations and needs. Cutting tool selection is a very important subtask involved in process planning activities. This paper proposes the application of the particle swarm optimization (PSO) process for the definition of the optimal cutting tool geometry.

Tool Wear Prediction in Broaching Based on Tool Geometry

Volume 9: Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy; Microturbines, Turbochargers, and Small Turbomachines; Oil & Gas Applications; Steam Turbine
Abstract The aircraft engine is a safety-critical part of an aircraft. Constructive modifications resulting in ecological and economic improvements of the engine lead to necessary changes in manufacturing processes. The turbine discs in the low-pressure section are made of temperature resistant nickel-based superalloys.

Tool Geometry Solves Missile Machining Problems

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1984
A tool geometry, unique to Karl Hertel Ltd., of Nuneaton, is enabling British Aerospace to maintain continuous production of thin‐walled missile motor bodies. The workpiece material is a “difficult” extruded 4% copper‐aluminium alloy.

The Fundamental Geometry of Cutting Tools

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1951
A full geometrical analysis of a cutting tool edge is made, in which an effective rake of universal application is defined in terms of the primary rake and the angle of obliquity of the edge. The fundamental angles are related in an easy manner to the traditional workshop terms, and may readily be applied to any cutting tool.

Matrix Model Tools and Geometry of Moduli Spaces

Acta Applicandae Mathematica, 1997
This is a survey of the author's results on discrete analogs of the moduli space \(\overline{\mathcal M}_{g,n}\) of compact Riemann surfaces with \(n\) marked points [see \textit{L. Chekhov}, J. Geom. Phys. 12, No. 3, 153-164 (1993; Zbl 0793.14015) and ``Matrix models for moduli spaces'', Commun. Math. Phys. (to appear)].

Linguistic Geometry tools generate optimal solutions

1996
A formal theory introduced in this paper, the Linguistic Geometry, includes mathematical tools for knowledge representation and reasoning about multiagent discrete pursuit-evasion games. These class of games is an adequate mathematical model for the real world combat operations, particularly, for the aerospace and navy problem domains.
