A numerical approach to optimize the toolpath strategy for polymers forming

Materials Research Proceedings, 2023
Abstract. Incremental sheet forming is a relatively new technology with a deformation strategy that resembles the layered manufacturing principle of rapid prototyping; thanks to this, it can represent a viable way to form metal and polymer sheets, guaranteeing high customization and cost-effectiveness.

E-smart toolpath machining strategy for process planning

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2016
The environmental impact of conventional machining processes as influenced by the consumption of electrical energy resources is one of the contributing factors to global warming potentials and pollution. This is as a result of CO2 emission in the manufacturing process.

A heuristic feedrate optimization strategy for NURBS toolpaths

CIRP Annals, 2008
Abstract This paper presents a new and computationally efficient feedrate optimization strategy for spline toolpaths. The technique combines analytically derived compatibility equations with a heuristic search method, which helps generate feed profiles with reduced cycle time while adhering to axis velocity, acceleration, torque, and jerk constraints.

Dieless Double-Sided Incremental Hole-Flanging With Different Toolpath Strategies

Volume 1: Processing, 2016
Incremental sheet forming is a flexible manufacturing process that does not require dedicated dies nor custom tooling. Hole-flanging via the ISF process is rapid and cost-effective, especially in prototyping and low-volume production. In this study, a double-sided incremental hole-flanging method was considered where the top and bottom tools were used ...
