Hydrogel Confinement Strategies for 3D Cell Culture in Microfluidic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hydrogel confinement structures are key to organizing 3D cell cultures in microfluidic devices. This review classifies five structural strategies (micropillar, phaseguide, porous membrane, stepped‐height, and support‐free) and examines their trade‐offs alongside fabrication methods.

Effects of toolpath and clamping strategies in machining distortion of stainless-steel parts

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2019
Abstract Heat exchangers in new nuclear power generation plants are made of thin AISI 316L stainless-steel plates stacked together in order to improve their efficiency and compactness. To ensure the assembly, the global distortion of those plates must be mastered and minimized, mainly by predicting the evolution of the residual stress field during ...

Study of Distortion on Milled Thin-Wall Aluminum Parts Influenced by Initial Residual Stress and Toolpath Strategy

open access: yesThe International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2023
Abstract Monolithic aluminium alloy parts are highly required in aeronautical industry, but they show significant geometrical distortion after the machining process. This work investigated the distortion attributed by the initial residual stress of raw material and the machining induced residual stress during the milling process, as well as ...

Tunable Applicator for Microneedle‐Based Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper presents a simple, low‐cost tunable applicator (TAPP) for microneedle array patches that uses a material‐agnostic controlled‐fracture mechanism to ensure reliable skin penetration and uniform array engagement. The scalable, modular design is compatible with injection molding and 3D printing, can be integrated directly into patches, and is ...
